***Note: I will not get political in that I will tell you what the "best" party is or what the "right" thing is to do. You get to find your own truths and make those choices for yourself. However, I will give my spiritual truth (as I see it) as to why we manifested the protest/attempted coup (whichever word works better for you depending on your current perspective) in the United States, and what politics are about in a spiritual, broad-scope sense.***
A couple of days ago in a spiritual mindset group I am in, a person expressed frustration with what happened at the U.S. Capitol. She was trying to understand and be open-minded about the perspective and actions of the protestors, but was also feeling very angry and sad. I felt inspired share what I wrote to her here.
Because the woman I was writing to expressed politically-left beliefs, I wrote to her from a more left-leaning perspective, but you can take what I have written and apply it to any political perspective you're frustrated with or don't understand. Because at the end of the day, this is really about learning how to feel empowered no matter what the political situation is. It's about stepping into your power!
What I wrote:
"The world has been for the past few years in a huge anger release as people are starting to try to figure out how to reach their own truths and find personal empowerment. In a state of anger, "the ends justify the means" is a belief that people will commonly hold when they don't believe that a win-win situation is possible. If you truly believe that the government has power over you, and you believe that the government will continue to ignore you and elect people that you didn't vote for, then you may believe that the only way to put a stop to it is through force (this is true of any political belief/party you align with, not just the political right). It is a logical action to take if you start with the assumption that you are mostly powerless in creating your own reality, and that win-win situations are not possible.
But the great thing about being into the personal development/spiritual world is that YOU know and have the ability to work through your triggers. What if, instead of viewing people storming the Capitol as "bad" or disrespectful, decide for yourself that this is actually a great thing for the nation? What if you choose to see this as an example of people learning how to step into their power? What if this creates a powerful conversation amongst people about how to constructively deal with anger? What if this makes people realize they have the ability to choose how they feel, and that they can find solutions in which everyone feels heard and respected? What if this is a natural step in clearing out lower vibrational energy so that we, as a globe, start to feel better and better and rise?
It's a tough situation. You definitely get to feel sad and angry and anything else that you feel. But remember, when something negative manifests in our life, it is showing you that you have some limiting beliefs to work through. Try to see it as an opportunity to let go of some lower-vibe energy. See it as an opportunity to let go of YOUR limiting beliefs that the only way to "win" is to force the "other side" to "lose". At the end of the day, we all want to feel heard and safe."
