After studying the philosophy behind the Law of Attraction, you may eventually be confused by seemingly two opposite takes by LOA practitioners on how to manifest your desires:
1) Should you try taking action, thus showing the Universe that you are serious about your desires and making it easier for what you want to come to you, or should you
2) Recognize that you are not fully aligned with your current desire, and, instead of wasting a bunch of time trying to take action that you are not aligned with, focus on raising your vibration first so what you want will come to you?
The Answer: It Depends
The basic answer is that both of these are good techniques, and ideally, you should be doing both.
The more nuanced answer is that it depends on your desire and how much resistance you currently have towards achieving it.
The recommended LOA formula to follow is to focus on visualization first, allow yourself to feel really good as you align yourself with what it is that you want, and then follow the thread of inspiration to take action (known as "inspired action").
However, as humans, we have been taught that action is the most important part (not mindset), so sometimes it can be easier to start taking action first and work on aligning your mindset with it instead.
For instance, if you believe that in order to get fit, you have to go to the gym 5 days a week, then at least starting with going to the gym once or twice a week can help you align with the desire of getting fit.
If you like the idea of going to the gym and it sounds mostly fun, taking action is sometimes all you need in order to feel vibrationally aligned to your goal. Taking small action steps that align you towards how you think you will feel by achieving this goal can be a successful technique.
However, if the idea of going to the gym for 30 seconds sounds like torture, then taking action isn't going to help you vibrationally align with your goal because you don't really want to go to the gym.
If you feel a lot of resistance towards the action that you think you need to take in order to achieve your goal, step back and "go general" with your desire.
For the gym example, instead of focusing on the action that you think you need to take (going to the gym 5 days a week), focus on what it is that you think that action will bring you (a fit body).
So in this example, the real desire that you have is to get fit. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to get fit that don't involve going to the gym! You can play soccer, take dance lessons, or go run around with your kids.
The overall goal of using LOA is to get results in a way in which the journey (the action you take and what you manifest) to those results feels good. If the action you think you need to take doesn't feel good, go general with your desire and focus on getting aligned more generally first.
