Law of Attraction Tip: How Do I Know if My Beliefs Are Limiting or Empowering?

How Do I Know if My Beliefs Are Limiting or Empowering?

How exactly do you know if a belief you have is a limiting belief or an empowering one?

On the surface level it may sound like a silly question, but what about for topics like politics?

You can have several groups of people that believe that they are 100% right while the other group is entirely wrong.

Does that mean that one political group is "right" and totally empowered, while the other ones are operating from limiting beliefs? And how do you know which one is the "right" one?

It's Not the Belief Itself, but How You Feel About It

The answer is that it depends. The same belief can be limiting for some and empowering for others because it depends not on the belief itself, but the emotion attached to it.

Take the definition of "rich", for instance. For one person, $40,000 a year may seem wealthy beyond dreams. For another, it may not feel like enough to survive.

Whether $40,000 equates to wealth or scarcity is perceived by the individual. The number is itself is just a number with no inherent judgement of "good" or "bad". One person is not "right"or "wrong" for saying that $40,000 is a lot of money - it just is an opinion.

Likewise, beliefs about the best form of government, religion, and how to best live your life are judgements you have made. They are conclusions drawn from hypotheses you have tested and data you have collected in your life.

How Do I Know if This Belief is Empowering or Disempowering?

So if your beliefs are personal opinions and not "right" or "wrong", then how do you know if you have formed a belief that is empowering?

It can be tricky to know, so there are 2 ways to check.

The first way is to think about your belief and see how it feels in your body. Do you feel relaxed and open, or do you feel like your body is tightening up?

If you feel tightness or closed-offedness within your body, then this is usually a sign that this belief is a limiting one instead of an empowering one.

The second way to check is to ask yourself what would happen if the opposite of what you believe is true. What if the other person/group was right and you were wrong?

If that brings up anger, sadness, or any feeling that is not "oh, interesting", then it is most likely a limiting belief.

When you feel totally empowered, being "right" while others are "wrong" doesn't really matter because you feel comfortable and confident within yourself.

But if "the other side" being "right" is a big deal to you, chances are that you have a limiting belief in which they have some kind of power over you.

Likewise, thinking that "if they only did _xyz_, then it would be fine" is a limiting belief because it is making others responsible for your happiness and not you - and vibrational energy works the other way around!

So, in short, if you NEED others to agree with you - that's a limiting belief. If you don't, then it's an empowering one.
