5 Tips for Using the Law of Attraction to Manifest Your Dream Body

text that reads "5 Tips for Using the Law of Attraction to Manifest Your Dream Body"

Want to manifest your dream body, but can't figure out how? Read below to find the 5 best tips for aligning yourself into a dream body using the Law of Attraction.

*Note: I am focused on the energy work behind gaining your dream body - I am not a doctor, so please consult your doctor for any specific medial advice.

1) Is It Your Dream Body or Someone Else's Dream?

It is important to mention in a conversation about obtaining a dream body that the definition of a "dream body" by society is one that is basically impossible. Photoshop and the media does set an unrealistic expectation for what the "dream body" is supposed to be by editing and manipulating images through screen editing software.

It's also worthwhile to note that a lot of models that we do see unedited have to take extreme measures to show themselves like that to the public. A lot of them essentially starve themselves or eat cotton balls to try to trick their bodies into thinking that they're full.

Victoria's Secret angels too, for example, would do extreme dieting and not even drink water 12 hours before the show in order to look the way they did on the runway. While they're dedication to their job may be impressive in a sense, undergoing these extreme measures is not an enjoyable or realistic way for most people to treat their bodies.

Instead, the way we want to treat this vibrationally is to focus more of the feeling of what it would be like to really love and appreciate your body within the current parameters that you have. Sure, you can get plastic surgery to make your nose smaller or wear contacts if you don't like your eye color, but if you focus on manifesting your dream body from the current perspective of "I am ugly and/or I hate myself", then no matter how much you starve yourself or get plastic surgery, you will continue to view yourself in the future because the vibration of "I am ugly" and self-hatred hasn't changed.

You have to start the goal of loving yourself with loving YOUR body, not someone else's.

2) Picture the Ideal You of the Future

When you think about yourself in the future, what do you envision him or her to be like? What are you doing in your life? Then, reflect back to your current self and ask your future self what your current self should be doing to get to where future you is to get that body. Are you doing yoga every day? Do you go to the gym or play soccer? Do you eat a particular diet? Do you have no diet and eat intuitively instead?

I want to stress that there is no "right" or "wrong" here - just the choices that you get to make for yourself. What kind of thoughts does future you think about yourself? What does your future self do? Hold that visualization, allow yourself to get inspired to start taking those actions!

3) If You're Asking Yourself the Question, Then You Already Know the Answer

The phrase above was something that my former Latin teacher said to me that I believe has a lot of truth to it. The hardest part of trying to manifest any sort of change into your life is that you have to ask yourself why you don't already have what you want.

It can feel really scary to be honest with ourselves about where we are at because we are afraid of the judgement that comes along with it. If you acknowledge that you are overweight, you overeat, or don't exercise enough, it can bring up very intense feelings of shame. If you were sexually assaulted or abused in any way, this question can bring up a lot of trauma (a lot of women who have been assaulted are overweight because being fat gives them a physical protective barrier).

But the important thing to remember is that acknowledging those feelings is the most important thing you can do. You can't take action to make yourself feel better until you acknowledge the feels about yourself you currently have. By acknowledging them, you are then able to set the intention to find solutions and take action.

By saying to yourself, 'I don't want to feel this way", you then get to ask yourself, "how do I want to feel?" and focus on heading that direction. You are able to get past the shame and the fear that is keeping you stuck where you currently are so that you can raise your vibration and heal those limiting beliefs.

So don't be afraid to "go there" and allow the answer that you really feel to come up, and sit with it for bit. Only once your honest answer comes up can you then reexamine it and morph it into a more positive vibration.

4) Do You Identify as a Dieter?

A common place where people get stuck is that they subconsciously identify as a dieter instead of as someone who is healthy.

When you are in the mode of being a dieter, you are in a vibration of lack. You look at yourself with "not enough-ness" and tell yourself that you are not skinny enough.

I'll let you in on a little secret here - I am 110 pounds and have never dieted. My mindset is very different from a dieter and is not focused on food from a place of lack. Instead, I focus on eating slowing and enjoying every bite of my food. If I find that I'm looking at my plate and still wanting to eat more even though I'm full, then I acknowledge that I didn't pay enough attention to enjoying my food and remind myself to do so next time. I don't count calories because I trust my body to tell me when I'm full. I eat some veggies everyday because I know which ones I like and I enjoy how they make me feel physically.

That's a pretty different vibration than "I can't have that, I need to eat less, I'm never going to be skinny", no? When you are in the vibrational place of identifying as someone who is healthy and has their dream body, your thoughts themselves are entirely different. Food is a joy, not a struggle. Climbing up the vibrational ladder to better-feeling thoughts takes time, but trying to get into the feeling-place of someone who identifies as skinny and healthy is one of the quickest ways to become that person.

5) Are You Forcing Yourself to Do Things You Don't Want to Do?

As I mentioned earlier, there is no one "right way" to take action to manifest your dream body.

You absolutely detest running? Fine. There are plenty of other ways to exercise that can elevate your heart rate without it feeling like torture. Maybe you like swimming or breakdancing, or perhaps playing football with your buddies on Sundays is more of your thing.

Same thing goes for food. I had an epiphany at 22 years old when, after cooking up a bag of frozen vegetables, I realized that I could choose not to eat the squash that came in the bag simply because I didn't like it. It was seriously a eureka moment for me because I had the limiting belief my whole life that I had to eat all of my vegetables instead of just the ones I liked!

So do the same for yourself. If you feel like you absolutely hate vegetables, there are plenty of creative ways to "hide" them in your meals. Steve Kamb from NerdFitness wrapped asparagus in bacon for a year to train himself to become open to trying any veggies in his diet (seriously!).

If you are a perfectionist, you may find yourself running into the conflicting feeling of "I must do this one particular exercise and eat this particular diet in order to be perfect and at my best" that prevents you from taking action. If that is the case, sit with the notion of "doing an okay job is better than nothing" and "you don't have to do it all at once", and see what comes up for you.

Sit with the possibility that the Universe knows much more of what is out there and may bring to you a new exercise or diet that is even more enjoyable than the ones you currently know about, and that being open to different ways of doing things will bring you more fulfilling opportunities and joy. Getting your dream body doesn't have to be torture - it really is allowed to be fun!
